Emergency Medical Services


The Village of Grosse Pointe Shores Department of Public Safety provides a transporting Advanced Life Support Ambulance service.  Our paramedics are licensed by the State of Michigan and Certified by the American Heart Association (AHA) to provide Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).  ACLS is the standard of care used by all healthcare providers for common cardiac emergencies. Additionally, Grosse Pointe Shores EMS governed under the Detroit East Medical Control Authority (DEMCA) Protocols for compliance.

Our EMS Division is managed by Sergeant Jason Cook and assisted by Sergeant Zef Bojaj and Public Safety Officer Paul Morang. These officers are the public safety departments Paramedic / Instructor Coordinators and are responsible for protocol and billing compliance, In-Service Training, equipment maintenance and purchasing.

The Village of Grosse Pointe Shores Department of Public Safety has maintained an average medical response time of 4.5 minutes, well below the national average response time of 8 minutes.
